PATTING MYSELF ON THE BACK!!!!

Last week I had my 6 months labs drawn, and I was so nervous about how the were going to be!! I found out 2 months or so ago I was taking the wrong iron, so I finally got with Vitalady and got her tender iron about 2 weeks ago. So yes, I was very nervous. WELLL I got the results back and EVERYTHING was great! Not one problem, everything was NORMAL! Do you know how that makes me feel??? Every day we make ourselves choke down all these vitamins several times a day and to be finally rewarded with great outcome it is AWESOME!! I seriously patted myself on the back for this! I will continue to keep up the good work. I also had my NUT called me for my 6 month checkup, and after telling her ALL my vitamins I take. She told me I don't need to take 2 1,000 calicum pills, and neither the B1. She said B1 is manly for people after WLS that haves problems with vomiting and ect... We get some B1 in the multivitaim and she said I don't need any more than that!! (Please send feedbacks if this is not true!) Also she said since I am talking 2 multivitamins a day, the Centraium 100, she said I only need one of those too. I told her that I sometimes after going pee-pee smell the vitamins coming out of me, I even smell like vitamins sometimes! She told me that its because I am taking too many that I mentioned earlier! So I am going to finish taking the B1 and maybe cut the multivitamin down to maybe 1.5 a day. I will also cut vitamin C in half and only take one pill a day. One half in am, and one half in Pm. I am hoping that I don't mess anything up!!! LOL
Well this is what I wanted to share with everyone. Hope everyone is doing well.... :)

Wish me luck....

oy... trouble down the road possible if you listen to her...

normal results... what does that mean?  Some docs mean well... and as long s the lab say: normal... they are happy...
But we need to track how the numbers are changing... are they going down (that would mean you are not taking enough) or they are stable or they are doing up (in which case - you are taking too much.)

WE do need 200% of the multivitamin and minerals due to malabsorbtion.  So - you do need 2 centrum. Hopefully - 2 dosages - a few hrs apart for better absorption.
And for some of us - that is not enough... I have to take extra B-s and B12, and I can't absorb iron..and I need extra K.. and so on.. I know that because I have been looking at my labs...
For couple of years I trusted the doc that they are fine....while my iron was dropping... my ferritin dropped from 100 to  11 over 2 years.  but they were telling me I am fine... great...
the lab indicates that the ferritin is normal 10-250.... so at 11 i was normal.. but at 9... I needed infusions... in between was a year that I dealt with anemia, low RBC, depression, being tired, RLS, etc... but I was "normal"... right?

Normal... may be good if you are feeling OK... but if the numbers are dropping - or they are not high enough to be optimum... eventually your body will show...

BTW: we need to take 1500-2000 mg calcium - in divided dosage - no more than 500-600 mg of calcium at a time... more than that does not get absorbed.
What about D? are you taking any?  We need D3.. dry D3. are you taking any? what wer your levels?

I think your nutritionist is giving you bad advice.  The American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery says you DO need two multis.  You might wanna ask her why she disagrees.

They also say you need 1500-2000 mg calcium CITRATE.  Are you taking calcium citrate?  I've never seen a brand of citrate that has 1000 mg in one pill.  Are you sure you read the label correctly?  Maybe it has 1000 mg per serving but a serving is two pills?

You don't need B1 if your labs show your B1 level is good.  What was your B1 level?

Thank you ladies for responding... I didn't post my lab results because one I didn't have them at the time, and two I know what is normal and not normal. I work in the ER around many MDs so really I wasn't concerned about the numbers and knowing how to read them. However, I figured that what the Nut said about the multi vitamins were wrong, because I have read everywhere it says you need two. @ Kelly I meant to say Vitamin C not calcium citrate. Yes I am taking 2 calium citrate. I was told that the Vit C I didn't need 2 doses of, that is 1000mg per pill. I am most diffently taking Vitaimin D3, my levels in the beginning before surgery were exeremly low, and so was iron! Again ALL of my labs were in normal ranges. I only have them to compare to the labs right before surgery but I will make sure I am on top of it and keeping up with the numbers. Thank you guys for your feedback!!
P.s Im sorry I don't remember your name, but thank you.. :)
